In the warmth of a spa, My aches just fade away,
The bibbly bubbly water, Tickling my array!
It soothes those naughty knots, Deep within my joints and bones,
It irons out the wrinkly bits, And gives off Pheromones!
And then it's time to work, In a pool just made for me,
I push my little paws so hard, They dance for all to see!
I pant and puff and feel the burn, In muscles that had past,
I never thought I'd say this guy's, But get me in that spa!
I know that this is good for me, It keeps me right as reign,
It helps to stop those achy bits, And keeps me out of pain!
So thank you for the hydro pool,
And thank you for the spa,
And thank you for the lovely time,
You super duper star!
We hope to take delivery of our new K9Surf underwater treadmill in May. We are very excited about this as it is longer than our current one and will make the treatment of larger breeds easier. It will also come with an uphill and downhill facility. Anyone interested in buying the current Westcoast underwater treadmill should contact Jane directly on 01243 543121.
Bear & Edmund are a lovely pair of eight year old Labradors who desperately need a new loving family home together because their family has emigrated and can't take them. They are in good health and are very well trained with amazing temperaments. They are easy off the lead, love swimming and chasing balls and will happily sleep all day! If you could offer them a home please contact Labrador Lifeline Trust. Or phone Pennie on 02392 253293.

Maizy Robinson is a three year old Miniature Schnauzer who came to us after having been diagnosed with FCE (Fibrocartilagenous Embolism), which initially paralysed her hind legs. She has been coming to 121 where she has used the surfboard, the water treadmill and the spa. Her owner Julia and family have worked extremely hard with her at home where, I'm told, she now surfs to Olympic standard in the bath! She also has a very specific exercise regime to help back up the work we have done here with her. I am glad to report that she has made massive progress thanks to their continued work with her. She and they really are all stars!
Go to the video page, under the Gallery menu above, and Maizy will demonstrate the walker for you!
Sadly Toby Pal had to be euthanaised due to liver / kidney failure. He will be greatly missed, not only by his owners, but also by all of us who knew him - he really was a great character. He will keep his position as the star of our surfing video for which we will all remember him! At least he really seemed to thrive for his last 6 months. We won't forget you Toby.
We are very pleased to announce that our new floor is now down and seems to be a great success! So far it seems to be totally non-slip and the dogs like the idea that they no longer need to go up a ramp to shower!

We continue to be successful with the small dog surfing programme. To learn all about it, visit the 121 Animal Therapy Video Page.
Please remember that we will be closed from 16/09/2008 - 21/09/2008 while our new floor is being laid! Make sure you're booked in around these dates. We hope this will not cause too much inconvenience to our hydrotherapy customers. Our other services will continue as normal during that week.
Yes, it's on line at last. For an insight into the fun side of 121 Animal Therapy don't forget to visit the Rogue's Gallery!
We have now tried this new process and initial results appear to be very promising, with the ability to attach our massage hose for specific deep tissue therapy. This feature is excellent for scar tissue manipulation, myofascial release, deep muscle massage, overall pain management and relaxation.
Benefits:
We will continue to monitor and leave feedback on this.
We are starting to see success with our small dog surfing program - remember to look at the "rogues gallery" for the latest photos!
are now available. These are the ones you've seen us use that just soak up the water and can be wrung out repeatedly and are also machine washable. Size 70 cm x 50 cm. Colours - Blue or Orange. Price £3.50 each or 3 for £10. RRP £5.99 each. Remember to buy one for your dog when you visit.
Dog thieves seem to be operating across the country stealing dogs to order. This is not only if you leave your dog in your garden, but also if they are out for a walk. One lady went into undergrowth to find her dog and saw her dog had been picked up by a woman, who was trying to get away with it - luckily the owner got the dog back on this occasion.
Another case was nearing dusk when people in a van tried to snatch a dog from its owner - this was thwarted when someone came to the assistance of the owner.
Make sure you pay extra attention to your dog whenever it would be possible for it to be stolen. Ask your veterinary surgeon about microchipping your pets.
This event is taking place at Sussex Canine Centre, Unit 20, Cliffe Industrial Estate, South Street, Lewes, East Sussex, BN8 6JL and will start at 7.30 pm sharp so please arrive early. There will be guest speakers including one from DAP and also one from the Holistic Veterinary Medical Centre at the Village Works in East Hoathley who are a Homeopathic Veterinary Practice. I will also be giving a presentation on behalf of the Advanced Canine Behaviour Students. If you are able to attend it would be helpful if you could contact us by fax 01243 545991, phone 01273 487362 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. Teach your dog to relax and have a stress free time when the fireworks begin.
The study is organized by students from Sussex Canine Centre's Canine Behaviour Department.
Any funds raised by the students will go to The Arc Foundation.
We have almost got the underwater camera up and running now. It still needs a few finishing touches but is proving useful to enable us to see what the dog's legs are doing while they're in the pool. We are also able to record and send a copy on DVD to the veterinary surgeon.
We have also started a rogues gallery. Your additions would be welcome! We hope to have one online soon too!
We have heard that there is a lot of kennel cough about at the moment so suggest you check with your veterinary surgeon to see if innoculation would be in order.
Veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses and receptionists - remember you are welcome to make an appointment to come and see our facilities. Just give us a call on 01243 543121.
The star of the month this month has to be Buddy.
About 7 weeks ago Buddy's owners got up one morning to find one hind leg had stopped working, this was followed very shortly by the other one. There was no obvious cause - the veterinary surgeons did countless tests and took X-rays but were unable to find the root of the cause. He spent a considerable time at the Veterinary Surgery, was then given steroids and his owners had to take him in twice a day for catheterization.
When he first arrived at 121 Animal Therapy he was hardly able to use his hind legs at all. His owners were using a "sling for support" which meant they were carrying the weight all the time they took him for exercise. Their love and will for Buddy to succeed have made all the difference to his recovery. He has been using the water treadmill twice a week, supplemented with sessions in the spa. He is now walking totally unaided (and running whenever he gets the chance). Jo and Karli get him to do different land based exercises and the combined result is a resounding success!
Congratulations to Buddy, Karli and Jo - you really are all stars!
We held successful open days on the May Bank Holiday weekend and on 10th May. Visitors saw our facilities and had their questions answered on a 121 basis.
We are here to support you!
